Magic Oils

Magic oils are the foundation of candle magic, mojo working, and personal ritual anointing.  Use them to "fix" candles, apply to the affected area of the body, to magic tools, etc. If you wanted to put them in a bath, you would pour in about 1/4 of the bottle.  Natural Magick oils are all made according to the best day of the week and phase of the moon.  No cheating or fudging! If I blow it and forget to make Money oil on the Thursday before the Full Moon, well we are just going to be out of stock til the next favorable lunar and planetary production day.  All are true essential oils blended into a base blend of Fractionated Coconut or Jojoba, Almond and Vitamin E oil for a long-lasting product, with the exception of Find Love for Men, which has a little synthetic Egyptian Musk.  There is and herb or stone in each bottle that gives it a magickal look, and is appropriate to the intention.  I call it the focus herb, because if you like to focus your energy and intention into your oil, it gives something to focus on.  They are diluted only enough to be safe for most people to use directly on the skin with no adverse reactions, usually about a 12% solution.  Oh, and all of them smell good too, except Banishing and Uncrossing, which would not work if they were not a bit off-putting!

Van Van oil

Van Van oil is a favorite Louisiana standard with many uses, including banishing, purification, ritual preparation, and meditation. Focus: Blessed Sea Salt

Van Van is used to prepare a magickal working space and to anoint ritual participants. Add it to mop water, washrags, and room sprays.

Most of the traditional ingredients in Van Van have pest-repelling properties, which is a constant need in the Deep South! Traditional Van Van potions are based on the citrus-smelling grasses like Citronella, Palmarosa, and Vetiver. Some of these are included in my Van Van oil.

For my formulations I took an intuitive leap, based on New Orleans pronunciations. What we call Vervain in Europe and Texas (Ver-VANE), is pronounced (vurh-VaHN) in French and Cajun. Vervain is a European witchcraft mainstay herb, used by Druid and western Witches alike for purification and magickal power and healing. Lemon Verbena essential oil (Aloysia triphylla or Lippia citriodora) known by its common name as Lemon Verbena) would have been available to early French perfumers based in New Orleans, but since it is quite expensive, it would be unaffordable for most New Orleans styled HooDoo practitioners and potioneers. Because of its powerful purification properties, I conjecture that Vervain (European Verbena officinalis or American native Verbena hallei, which has no scent or essential oil), was used in infused oils to obtain the powers of the Verbena, and that the lemony scent and purifying qualities were added in with Lemongrass, Citronella, and Palmarosa grass essential oils, as necessary, affordable and available, to approximate the elusive scent of Lemon Verbena essential oil.

My version of Van Van oil pays tribute to this history, and contains real Lemon Verbena essential oil. It contains sea salt blessed on the Wednesday after the New Moon.

These magick oils are also called ritual oils, anointing oils or condition oils. They can be used to anoint a person, candle, mojo bag, lucky coins, jewelry, amulets, statues, prayer or spell scrolls, or anything that has a connection with the purpose of the oil or the "condition" it is made to address. Use them according to your inspiration, imagination, the instructions in a book, your Spirit Guide, teacher or Angel's recommendations, or how your Grandma taught you.
