Guadalupe oil

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the beloved Mexican/American aspect of Mary, mother of Jesus. Although she is officially not a deity according to Catholic dogma, many Catholics and others know better and revere her as a healing Mother goddess who always is ready to offer comfort, solace and forgiveness.

The rose is sacred to Our Lady, and so Our Lady of Guadalupe oil has real rose absolute. It also contains the rare and precious Lemon Verbena essential oil, to represent the Vervain which Mary brought to staunch the wounds of Jesus as he hung on the cross. This was almost certainly a magickal/spiritual use of the herb, which does not stop the flow of blood or have more than a mild relaxing property.

Our Lady of Guadalupe oil is blended on Fridays just after the New Moon, since she is depicted standing on the crescent Moon in many of the beautiful paintings which depict Juan Diego’s vision of the Virgin.

Here is my witched-up feminist revision of the traditional Hail Mary prayer:

Amen.

Say this prayer whenever you hear or see a fire engine, ambulance or police car with sirens on.

Mary is also called upon especially by sinners, anyone who has broken the law, trespassed against others, or caused harm done wrong in any way, to seek the way of forgiveness and personal redemption. We can seek her grace whether we have caused hurt or suffered it unjustly.
